The Great Australian Doorstep is a TV show on Channel 7 TWO, dedicated to Australian travelling and the endless possible adventures. It follows Peter (Spider) Everitt and his family touring the great Australian landscape, showcasing our country's natural treasures and the extravagant lifestyle of the traveller. For season 3 of the show, Turnbull's Hire Drive vehicles were used for their means of transport, trecking through wild bush, white sands and red deserts.
Airs on 4th September at 5pm - so don't miss it!
See below an excerpt of their travels.
Every day we think or dream of one day taking off into the sunset and travelling around Australia.
Many have been lucky enough to achieve and do this, while others are still planning and even more still dreaming. We are of the many few lucky ones who get to live and breathe our dreams 5 months of every year, doing our TV Show Great Australian Doorstep. Australia offers far more for the traveller than anywhere else in the world. From 5 star hotels to sleeping under the stars camping during the warmer months, exploring some of the best coastal beaches in the world. From Esperance in southern Western Australia to the surf breaks of Byron Bay on the mid East Coast. Our wet season allows us to chase the waterfalls throughout Kathrine Gorge in the Northern Territory or visit the Great Alpine Ranges, full of snow, in Victoria & New South Wales.
Australia has so much to see with access to all areas made easier with the type of vehicles we take. On the Great Australian Doorstep we were pleasantly surprised to know that you can hire full 4wd vehicles that allow you to see whatever tickles your fancy. Get off the beaten track, high country, even towing is allowed, this gives you the opportunity to get into the true travelling life style. Give our lifestyle a test drive before you invest a whole lot of money for the unknown - at Turnbull's Hire Drive you can rent or lease all kinds of 4WDs to suit your towing and 4wding needs, so definitely test drive before you buy!
We were lucky enough to have 2 different vehicles during our last filming trip. 1 was for the 'males hardcore camping' where I took a Toyota Hi-Lux double cab to explore the Flinders Ranges, so colourful and rich with history the 4wd tracks wind through 100 foot high gorges, water holes for the wildlife, with much of the landscape left in its natural state including the magnificent Aboriginal Rock Paintings. Then it was time for the Family 4wd, Toyota Landcruiser, which allowed us as a family to go up The High Country where the kids camped along fresh water rivers, fished for trout and lived life amongst Australia's diverse wildlife for a few days, all only accessible with a 4wd. Never say you can't, when now you can. You don't need to buy an expensive 4wd as you can now hire one from Turnbull's!
If its for a weekend, a week or longer try it out, it is great fun for the whole family. Remember back to when you were a kid, and I think you will agree with us, the best memories are the camping memories.
